School dropout rates in Uganda remain a pressing concern, with myriad factors contributing to this trend. Economic hardships, lack of access to quality education, early marriages, and societal expectations often force children, especially girls, out of school prematurely.
ENSURING THAT ORPHANS AND VULNERABLECHILDREN ACCESS EDUCATION
Hundreds of school going children receive scholastic materials such as exercise books, pens, pencils and mathematical sets. Even with government’s introduction of universal primary and secondary education program, school dropout rate is still high due to inadequate access to scholastic materials.
PALCO Uganda staff distributes mosquito nets to the youth, women and children. In Uganda Malaria is ranked as the number one killer disease causing 4.71% of all deaths and 44% of all the outpatients in health centres and hospitals. Malaria can be prevented by sleeping under a mosquito net.
Sanitary towels are also given to the older girls and women to promote hygiene.
